Deep Community Ties. Regional Reach. A UNIFYING VOICE for HALF MOON Bay.
A US Air force Veteran, Electrician and labor leader, political director IBEW 617; sheriff activities league board member, long-time HALF MOON Bay ReSIDENT and FATHER

A dedicated electrician and military veteran, Steven Booker serves as political director for IBEW Local 617. Now 58, he lives in Half Moon Bay, though his roots in San Mateo County go back to his childhood in Daly City and his education at Archbishop Riordan High School.

Following high school, Steven served in the U.S. Air Force with postings in Germany and England, plus nearly 200 days stationed in Saudi Arabia during the Gulf War. Back home, he studied at the College of San Mateo with dreams of police work, but a persistent friend convinced him to sit for the electrical exam instead. Steven passed, beginning a decades-long career in the trades.

His path eventually led him to the heart of local labor and civic development. Since 2014, he has managed political affairs for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers 617. Although he did not join the force, he maintained his commitment to public safety by serving on the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Activities League board.
Â
Steven’s deep connection to Half Moon Bay began during a time of profound family duty, when he moved here to care for his wife as she battled cancer. After her passing, the compassion he received from neighbors during that period solidified his bond with this coastal town. Now, as an active civic leader and the proud father of his daughter, Jasmin, 30, he remains committed to ensuring this region prospers for future generations.
His candidacy is bolstered by significant endorsements from regional respected local and regional leaders., including State Senator Josh Becker, four members of the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors including Coastside Supervisor Ray Mueller, and outgoing Councilmember Deborah Penrose. These strong alliances are key to his strategy for keeping Half Moon Bay integrated into the broader economic success of San Mateo County.
Steven’s campaign is built on the pillars of attainable housing solutions, sustainable local employment, and the modernization of our public infrastructure and safety protocols.
